30 Years Investment Experience
John is a co-founder of Welch Hornsby, Inc. Prior to forming Welch Hornsby in 1988, John served as an account executive in the Montgomery office of Morgan Keegan & Company. He also worked with McWhorter & Associates, a consulting engineering firm, in Savannah, Georgia, from 1977 to 1979 and with CH2M Hill in Montgomery from 1979 to 1984. He is a registered Professional Engineer (inactive), receiving his BSCE and MS from Auburn University. He has also successfully completed the Center for Fiduciary Studies Accredited Investment Fiduciary Auditor®Program (AIFA®). John has 30 years of investment experience.
John serves as a board member to the Alabama Policy Institute, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Cornerstone Schools of Alabama, and Spiritual Life Ministry Foundation. He is currently a member of the Newcomen Society of Alabama, the Chairman of Freedom Lives initiative, and a member of the Downtown Rotary Club of Birmingham. He has previously served as a board member for the Business Council of Alabama and Marannook, a faith-based center for college students and camp for children.
John is a native of Atlanta and is married to the former Virginia Conner of Montgomery. They are the parents of two children and are members of the Cathedral Church of the Advent.
